I hope you’re save and well! When we took these photos the world was different, nobody was worried about the coronavirus. Now most of us live in a country, where restrictions belong to our daily biz. Right?

Honestly, I went back and forth whether I should post this outfit or not; whether it would make sense to post fashion pictures at all. But then I decided to go on posting styling ideas. First, I believe a break from the news is necessary. Know the facts, yes. Stay inside and stay healthy, yes. But obsessively only watching or reading the news, nope.
Secondly, we are making a collective experience, which will make us look at things differently. But still we’ll need distraction, things which make us smile and laugh.

Vintage update

When do you think I bought this dress and the boots? 2019 or 2020?

Totally wrong. I bought neither the boots nor the maxi pleated dress. But who bought the pieces? My mom did! When? I don’t know exactly when she bought them, but it must have been somewhere in the eighties. At the end or the beginning of this decade, I don’t have a clue.

Would you’ve been able to tell, if I hadn’t told you? Probably not. And that’s what I’m trying to point out. Shop your own closet or your mom’s closet, before you shop on- or offline.

Shop your own closet first

Of course, vintage is popular and that’s nothing new. Still many of us keep buying new styles and I’m no exception. But a look in my mom’s closet from time to time taught me, that I often think something is new, but it isn’t. Like this dress. A few weeks before we took the photos I saw exactly one like this in a big popular fashion magazine.

How you style something, is what matters

Yepp, that is important or haven’t you been already wondering, why some people look stylish without any expensive or extremely trendy pieces? Or why people with extremely stylish and expensive clothes look boring?

You probably wouldn’t want to look exactly like women in the eighties? But wearing vintage pieces doesn’t mean, styling it the same way like 40 years ago. Today even elegant looks are more casual and easy going as it was in the past.

Accessories

My belt and bag are from this actual season. I love this belt with two buckles and studs. A statement all silver necklace is my second highlight on a black outfit, the light beige jacket a good finish.
